Tug Boats at Work

Welcome to The Stockpot!

Nestled on the Piscataqua river on historic Bow Street, The Stockpot has been a Portsmouth landmark for over 25 years! Established in 1982, The Stockpot has also become a local favorite. The building we are in was built in the early 1800's to service the mercantile businesses in the seacoast area. This building & the adjacent dock have the original foundations & beams from the period. They were originally occupied by Charles E. Peck, a carriage & sleigh manufacturer. At the turn of the century it became a small brewery operated by Charles E. Boynton. The wheel in the dining room was used to run the elevator that brought goods from the dock level to the upper stories of the building.

The current proprietors, Meredith & Peter Stolper, also own Exeter's landmark restaurant, The Loaf and Ladle, and their newest venture, The Loaf and Ladle in Portsmouth.

We are sure that you will enjoy all that you experience while visiting us - our delicious food, priceless view & comfortable atmosphere. The Stockpot offers a little something for everyone. Whether you are dining with the kids, enjoying a sunny cocktail at our outside bar or watching the game with fellow fans in the upstairs tavern, a visit to The Stockpot is always worth the trip. So stop by & see why the locals have voted us "The Seacoast's Favorite Casual Restaurant."

We don't take reservations, so come early for the best view...
